Chiropractor

Dr. Joseph Mascaro D.C.

Dr. Mascaro graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 1984 with a doctorate in Chiropractic. He began practicing in New York, and moved to southeastern Connecticut where he opened the Advanced Back and Neck Care Center in 1986. Dr. Mascaro is the clinic director and lead chiropractic physician at Advanced Back & Neck, as he has been since the clinic's inception.

Dr. Mascaro is a member of the International Chiropractic Association, the American Chiropractic Association, and the Connecticut Chiropractic Association. His involvement has included a role as Vice President of the Connecticut Chiropractic IPA and Second Vice President of the Connecticut Chiropractic Association.

Dr. Mascaro has also received the Thomas Nardilollo Memorial Award for clinical excellence and has lectured extensively on a number of health-related topics.

Dr. Mascaro is proud to announce that Advanced Back and Neck Care Center, LLC is now affiliated with the National Organization 'Disc Center of America.' Chiropractor

Dr. Michael Thomas D.C.

Dr. Thomas has been in practice at Advanced Back and Neck Care Center, LLC for over 30 years. He received undergraduate degrees in both Biology and Human Anatomy from Southern Connecticut State University prior to earning his Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1993 from the National College of Chiropractic in Chicago.

Upon graduation, he returned to his home state of Connecticut where he began to practice chiropractic at Advanced Back and Neck Care Center.

Dr. Thomas has earned his certification as a Chiropractic Sports Physician through post-graduate work at New York College of Chiropractic in 1995. He has worked for 3 separate professional sports teams. He has treated athletes in the NBA, WNBA, PGA, MLB, WWE and Olympians. While a great deal of his career has been spent treating people with injuries, he enjoys helping people of all walks of life achieve peak performance and with the prevention of injury.

Dr. Thomas lectures on topics such as chiropractic, health, stress, fitness, ergonomics, nutrition, and proper lifting.

Dr. Warren Geruso D.C.

Dr. Geruso is a resident of Rhode Island where he attended the University of Rhode Island for his undergraduate work. He then earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic through Life College in Marietta, Georgia. He has been practicing at the Advanced Back and Neck Care Center since January 1998.

Dr. Daniel Mascaro D.C.

Dr. Dan Mascaro has been practicing at Advanced Back and Neck Care Center since 2020 and is dedicated to delivering high quality chiropractic care. He was inspired to become a chiropractor by his father Dr. Joseph Mascaro at a very young age. His mission is to transform his patient’s quality of life.

Dr. Dan earned his undergraduate degree in Health and Science Studies from Quinnipiac University and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University in Georgia. Following graduation, he practiced at an office in New Jersey that specializes in cervical spine and headache care with a very gentle and effective technique called Quantum Spinal Mechanics. He then practiced in Branford, Connecticut where he focused on taking care of families, athletes, and patients that were in auto accidents.

He currently specializes in the treatment of chronic and acute spinal conditions, disc injuries, pinched nerves, knee pain, neuropathy, and leaky gut syndrome. Dr. Dan lectures on topics such as stress, healing, spinal health, knee pain, and gut health.

He is board certified and nationally certified in Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression therapy. In 2020 he was honored as one of the best spinal decompression doctors in America by the international Medical Advisory Board on Spinal Decompression. He is an active member of the Connecticut Chiropractic Council and the American Chiropractic Association.

Chiropractor

Dr. Matthew McNicholas D.C.

Dr. McNicholas was pursuing a degree in accounting when he received his first chiropractic adjustment from his sister, Meghan, which shifted his entire paradigm on healthcare from that point forward. He continued to get his accounting degree from the University of Connecticut, but also decided to pursue a goal of attending chiropractic school after graduation.

He achieved this goal when he graduated from the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic and began working with his sister in his childhood hometown of Southington, Connecticut. While working there he received specialized training in upper cervical specific technique and had the pleasure of helping a lot of families achieve optimal health including many pregnant mothers and newborns. He has spent the last three years working in a chiropractic office in downtown Hartford, Connecticut, where he served a wide variety of patients from businesspeople to athletes to local families.

His life’s journey has brought him down to Southeastern Connecticut, and he’s excited to serve the population in this area. He’s an active member of the Connecticut Chiropractic Council. Outside of the office he enjoys reading, all things sport related, and spending time with family.

Acupuncturist

Dr. Huan Zhang PH.D., L.AC.

Dr. Huan Zhang studied East Asian Medicine at the University of Bridgeport Acupuncture Institute, and graduated in 2016 with a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture. Before studying East Asian Medicine, he obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology in 1995 and did research in Japan and America for over 25 years.

He is fluent in English, Chinese and Japanese, is able to read and understand the original literatures of East Asian Medicine written in Chinese and Japanese, and have in-depth discussions with acupuncturists in United States, China and Japan.

Dr. Zhang treats patients with health issues ranging from (but not limited to) Back and Neck pain, Arthritis, Sciatica, Headaches, Digestion issues, Strokes, Constipation, Insomnia, Anxiety, Stress, Fertility, Menopause, and Weight Loss.

Dr. Zhang is currently accepting new patients and offers a Complimentary Consultation to discuss the patients concerns or apprehension of treatment.
